Preventative Maintenance

In order to comply with HSE standards, manufacturers recommendations and to ensure that the automatic gate remains reliable, it is vital that automated gates are maintained regularly.

Guidelines for Maintenance Schedules:

  • Over 45 cycles per day Every 2 Months
  • Up to 45 cycles per day Every 3 Months
  • Up to 30 cycles per day Every 4 Months
  • Up to 15 cycles per day Every 6 Months
Listed below are a selection of the checks that are carried out by our engineers during a routine preventative maintenance inspection / service visit.

Automated Gates Preventative Maintenance Procedures:

  • Check general operation of system
  • Assess condition of driveway
  • Inspect structural state of gate support
  • Inspect cable ducts and access where possible
  • Inspect condition of gates
  • Check gate alignment and ground clearance
  • Inspect general condition of hinges, gate stops and other gate furniture
  • Grease hinges
  • Inspect operators for condition, damage, wear etc.
  • Check operator fixings, brackets and geometry
  • Assess performance of operators and clutch settings
  • Bleed and top-up oil
  • Pressure test and adjustment – open and close
  • Check manual release and locking performance
  • Check protection of electrical connections to operators
  • Assess system usage levels
  • Assess Logic, Run, Pause, Leaf Delay and Over-run times
  • Carry out electrical inspection and earth insulation test on motors and their cables
  • Inspect isolation and protection of mains power supply
  • Check if RCD is present
  • Check electrical connections, terminations and protection
  • Check earthing termination
  • Check condition and operation of all control equipment
  • Check sealing of control box
  • Check sealing of Audio Link, photocells and other control equipment
  • Clean Audio Entry panel
  • Clean out foundation boxes and check drainage for undergate operators
  • Check and if required, change batteries on Safety Edge and Photocell Transmitters
  • Highlight any areas of concern and provide appropriate recommendations
  • Check, affix and date service sticker

Maintenance Agreements

Intelligent Security and Fire are happy to undertake an Automated Gate system Maintenance Contract for all systems regardless of who supplied or installed them. We can agree a schedule that meets your requirements and budget and ensure the automatic gate meets the necessary legal safety and insurance requirements. All service contracts have access to our 24hr call out facility, should you need any advice or attention to the systems we are just a phone call away. Our aim is to be on site within 4 hours of receiving a call out.
